The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful.

– Oscar Wilde in The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Makes sense to me, and apparently Mark Twain feels the same way.

It applies to the cravings we have in our lives. Moderate everything and everything will be in moderation.

I am wondering if this is passe though. Does it still apply to this day and age? I’d imagine so, but I could be wrong.

  1. :-o Disagree!

The number of obese people on this planet is proof enough _Against_ succumbing to temptation :D

Purely because the line between moderation and excess is quite unsteady, one moment you’re here, another moment you’ve fallen over!

I'd love to hear what you have to say, do write back!
