So the troupe performed over the weekend, and I was far more relaxed this time around than the weekend before. Of course it had everything to do with the fact that we were sufficiently delayed to perform a good 1.5 hours later than the schedule, and, we just sat around idling time after getting dressed in a hurry. Couldn’t really eat nor drink for reasons only a dancer in costume would appreciate, there really wasn’t much to do except walk around with camera in hand, clicking and thus shocking and embarrassing the girls. Some they posed (which aren’t up here for obvious reasons) and most, I took of different un-identifiable angles of them and purely to just take “non-people pictures” as I call them.

Well disciplined and polite, they succumbed without a protest.

The temps were bone-chilling in the cold dressing room, but I guess the excitement and anticipation of all things put together more than warmed me up.

Flickr’s just sneaky. I am not ready to upgrade my account, and the site wouldn’t allow me to load all what I’d like to. The irritating part is the thing counts by number of uploads per month and not the current size of the account. Frankly, that’s devious.

Click here for snaps on flickr, and this is the collage I got to make in good ol Picasa.

  1. The pics are breath-taking. The colours remind me of India and I miss it all :(

Your son is a handsome young boy. Sportive too, if I may say so. If that is you in the purple sari – your eyes are mesmerizing!

    I mean it all. Serious.

  2. Nandini: Thank you!
Okay, I wish I was even half as beautiful as the girl you talk about! She’s a PYT your age :)
No, that ain’t son, but yeah, if he does have to get on stage, he’d allow for me to paint him. This kid is an amazing violinist. Pure genius, and then he dances too.

JIra: heh, yes I am clicking pictures alright! :)
    Thank you :)

  3. Great pics. Quite nice. They are reminiscent of the festive mood back home during the kucheri season in Madras.

Re: Flickr – A Flickr subscription is actually rather useful. I wasn’t sure at first, either, but it does come with some other benefits and I personally think that it has been worth it.

  4. Beautiful, Rads! Loved the one with the fingers making a star…and the earring profile. What elaborate costumes! Must have been even better live. Glad it went off well!

  5. gauri: Thank you, the star was my daughter and her friends. :) Yeah, the costumes carry half the drama in classical shows. People left suitably impressed is what the buzz is.

mlc: lol@parts. I sorta clicked my feet, but others feet looked much better. Am sparing you, u know :p

bookworm: lol, you good by yourself, you didn’t need me to become famous! No need to steal, will be posting them up soon for the group as promised. :)
Just please for goodness sakes, don’t drag anyone else here! :p

Vijay: Thank you. Success eh? ah, you mean for taking pictures? :)

La Vida: yea, she’s there in one of the profiles, her hands, eyes, and also the ‘swirls’ pictures, – in white.
Smile belongs to a smart beautiful 10th grader. You’re a dentist and you wishing for a beautiful smile eh? That should be just a matter of trusting one of your colleagues? :)

    Thanks tdna. :)

metlin: yes! That’s what one of our friends who came to watch us said too. He just returned from Madras spending time at kutcheris and felt like he was back there again. Having a live orchestra adds a special quality to the dance.
lol@pyt. Yep, am quite the connection alright :P

I am gonna get the pro after all. Anyone willing to buy me one? :P

  6. parijaatha: lol, I know! I call these non-people pictures. Totally like these kinds. :)

adithya: lol, you still identified rt? :p
    Thanks, it’s the camera :)
