Apparently our office won some Edy’s contest. Courtesy, our dear HR director who always manages to keep winning contests that involve food treats for us. This is the 3rd such treat in my short 6 months, so go figure!
In any case, so we had won a Freezer full of Edy’z dibs late summer! It finally arrived this morning. The dear lady even did up a festive mood in the area. So she announced it to us in an impromptu staff meeting and after the intial euphoria subsided, we all gathered around and stared at the treats like kids watching a magician, open-mouthed and wide-eyed. Everyone, including the big guns looked at the rectangular red freezer in deep thought, as each wondered what kinda impact this would have on our working hours.
Such introspection I tell ya.
I had no idea Dibs came in so many flavors:
Mint, Chocolate, Crunch, Rola, Vanilla, Peanut Butter.
Oh, we qualified for 1 more refill after we’ve exhausted the gazillion teeny dibs that are piled waist high.
Life is good huh?

October 16, 2007 at 1:05 pm
it sure looks like it is!!..but I am curious to know how you had a camera handy ??
October 16, 2007 at 1:10 pm
orchid - Cellphone cam :)
Metlin - Had a dib from each flavor and only the mint is so-so. :)
KC - am glad one of us has our priorities rt :P

I wouldn’t touch either the chocolate (ugh) or the peanut butter with a ten foot pole. I don’t particularly like chocolate much (well, except maybe a tiny slice of good dark chocolate). Peanut butter is good in sandwiches, but that’s about it. :) Reminds me too much of Reeses ice-cream.
Vanilla and Mint sound good! Crunch and Rola, maybe.
October 16, 2007 at 3:05 pm
where do you work again? first the shoe calender, then the hot polish girl and now this. seems like all good things happen in and around your work place.
October 16, 2007 at 5:00 pm
Could you forward my resume to your HR! Polish Girls, Baklavas and now icecreams!
October 16, 2007 at 7:03 pm
I hate my HR for not doing her job now! :-|
October 16, 2007 at 8:22 pm
Sure Life’s good, but watch ur weight.
October 16, 2007 at 8:28 pm
Mav: Finally! I was wondering how everyone let that one slip by! :P
Prestid: now now, we have to be nice to them right? :)
pilgrim: Hmm.. not sure if we could afford you :P
Baph: Yes, truly happy :D
October 16, 2007 at 8:53 pm
for those that are/were interested:
i theorize that with the ice cream inside of her, polish girl is no longer the hottest item around! ;-)

October 16, 2007 at 10:34 pm
@Somebody: LOL. (i dont even know what to say to that)
@Presti: Bro, the warm Australian beaches not doing it for you anymore?
@Rads: SO, can I work there or what?
October 17, 2007 at 12:05 am
Hmmm…..(scratching non-existant beard in a pensive way). So dibs is an ice-cream huh! How come I dont see it around here?
October 17, 2007 at 12:39 am
lol.. was going to ask if dibs was icecream untill i saw ok’s comment. i want! :(
October 17, 2007 at 12:39 am
though what is rola flavor?
October 17, 2007 at 12:52 am
As I was looking at the dibs pictures, my son came along and pointed at the picture saying “Yeh de do!” :D
So now you have spread the fever here too!
October 17, 2007 at 8:17 am
nm - lol, pls get him a chocobar and tell him this is a giant dib! :D
baliga - unfortunately I acnt bring you dibs, as they’d be a mush and yucky, unlike baklavas. Though something tells me you’d rather I tag along the Turkish dude over than the baklava ;)
Rola is sorta caramel-y.
OK - maybe they think you dont need to have teeny drops of heaven. You the jogging dude and all.. :P
baph: Seriously? It could be a drive for you.
If you’re kidding - Sure, hop on. It’s a fun place.
sb: you’d be surprised.
But then again, hotness has only some to do with the physical body and the ice cream stores within. n’est-ce pas?
October 17, 2007 at 9:00 am
This is as good as saying, I dont want to share all the goodies with you!
October 17, 2007 at 9:03 am
@Rads: can i get a cabin right next to you?
October 17, 2007 at 9:40 am
You have any doubt whether life is good huh??? Lady ur havg fun n office….
October 17, 2007 at 10:04 am
We had banana fritters out here. Mostly ‘coz the boss accidentally strayed into a hawker center he liked for lunch, and they were accidentally selling goreng pisang there.
I was bleh about goreng pisang, but that was mostly for the pisukuDu association. However, I have now grown to like it, mostly because the boss likes it.
October 17, 2007 at 10:45 am
baph:
“@Rads: can i get a cabin right next to you?”
are you trusting the turkish dude with the polish girl then?
- s.b.
October 17, 2007 at 11:07 am
Did I hear Polish girls?? :D
October 17, 2007 at 12:13 pm
Rads… Answer to ur confusion…
Thanksgiving in Canada - Oct
Thanksgiving in US - Nov
October 17, 2007 at 1:44 pm
@cydonian- that’s interesting, looks pretty similar to the fritters made in Kerala, which use plantains.
Here’s a recipe: http://dailygirlblog.blogspot.com/2007/08/pazham-pori-plantain-fritters.html

BPSK - A Kerala-Muslim colleague of the husband sent us a nice treat yesterday. The lady made it for Id. It was like a bajji, fried. There was a sweet date inside which in turn housed a cashew within. Quite yummy, a bit oily, but was different, and very nice. Any idea what it’s called?
October 17, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Umm, ‘heart attack waiting to happen’? ;-)
I don’t think it is a Kerala dish. Your friend must have some friends in Gulf (cue the ethnic jokes). Seriously though, when I was visiting Dubai a few years ago I saw cashew-stuffed dates in every shop. It was one of those Gulf souvenirs, like Lonavla chikkis or Atlantic City taffy.

BPSK - hehe, had 1 and that was enough :)
Hmm.. could be. But apparently the wife made it - and it did look made at home.
Will check. :)
October 17, 2007 at 4:05 pm
Wonder how come I haven’t heard of dibs before…
October 17, 2007 at 8:38 pm
good that u have such a nice HR… our HRs would consume anything which even the employees win.. quite a lot of parasites…
October 18, 2007 at 2:45 am
BPSK: Pazham Pori it is. Yes. Thanks for the memories, now I realize why I hated it in first place. ;-)
October 18, 2007 at 5:49 am
leo- That’s funny. Check the grocers when you go next time. Edy’s is quite the brand.
Giri: lol :)
Ferrari: you Polish too? What are all the swedes gonna think? :O
CM Chap: lol :)
Cyd: I like your last statement. Deep. :P
Also, share memories please. I could use a story just about now.
Baph: Sure. Then they’d throw both of us out for not getting any work done!
Pilgrim: Am hurt you’d even say that. *sigh
October 18, 2007 at 2:39 pm
weekend I think I eat more since I am home and snacks are hands on.
But weekday afternoons in the office also offer waist expanding edibles.
btw, I am hearing abt dibs for the first time.
is that unbelieable or do I pass?
October 18, 2007 at 8:52 pm
Hehehe…this is SO funny :) The other day, we were celebrating National Bosses’ Day in our office. Our Dept. Head loves chocolates/muffins etc. So, of course, the secretaries dutifully filled the entire mail room with sugary goodies and promptly sent us emails asking us to wish our Dept. Head (we had already sent him a signed card) and then eat cakes/muffins etc. He was so pleased that he changed his signature like to -
THE BIG CHEESE- Finance and General Business Dept.
“It’s his ship now, it’s his command, he’s in charge….hes’ the head man, top dog, the big cheese, the head honcho…”
Sure, it’s nothing like being Mayor McCheese of McDonaldland or anything, but some day, perhaps…free fries for everyone!!!
Funny? :P

I must be the only person on earth who doesn’t like ice cream. IT’S TOO COLD ! I already live in Canada, for God’s sake…
October 19, 2007 at 8:50 am
Zhu: O cmon, Ice cream’s yum! O alright, please tell me you like it in the summer? :)
Ruhi: :)) It doesnt take much to flatter a guy eh?
upsi: I believe you are safe. There have been folks who dinno too. I love it, coz it’s just the right amount to whet that sugar rush and yet not feel guilty later :)
October 19, 2007 at 9:19 am
Not even in the summer ! I know, I know… I hate peanut butter too. Just the smell… yuck !
But I have normal sides too. I love chocolate, Nutella, Pringles…
October 19, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Go figure–but watch your figure :-)My kids would LOVE to see these pics–on second thoughts,I WONT show it to them! :-)
October 19, 2007 at 2:58 pm
PS - Figure?! I am a mommy of 3, and by all counts an established “aunty” - I can be fat and not care a bit ;)
Zhu - Chocolate? That works. You are now inducted into rads-hall-of desserts :)
October 19, 2007 at 6:45 pm
